My week/ weekend
this past weekend i shot my first goose. me and my grandpa went goose hunting, we waited then finaly they flew directly over us at the right altitude. then is saw the biggest one of the flock, pointed my shotgun up and shot, direct hit, i watched it glide and slam into the ground. I walked over to it and it's head slowly rose up. it's not a kill shot! Then it got up and started to run, i chased it for a while and brought up my shotgun again and shot it right in the stomach. The 3-1 shot blew a hole into it's stomach ruining the meat. Crap.

Wow, Devin. Well written in the sense that you were able to create a lot of suspense/tension. (That's a good thing because it makes readers engaged and want to read more.)
ReplyDeleteI had a somewhat similar experience. I was living in a cattle station in the outback of Australia and the station manager asked me to go shoot some birds that were making a bunch of noise beside his house. Gave me a 22. I'd never really shot a gun...just a pellet gun up to that point. Anyways, I shot and hit a few then walked over and the bird was paralyzed but still alive gawking away. I tried to step on him but did it halfheartedly. Not a lot of experience in that type of thing. My buddy finished him off. I'll never forget it. Just like I'm sure you'll never forget your experience.
